Known locally as Nakusamikan, this all-weather bullring is the premier venue for Tokunoshima’s famed tōgyū (bullfighting), where two bulls lock horns and push within a 20 m dirt ring until one retreats—the winner crowned like sumo champions. Major tournaments—such as the prestigious “All-Island Yokozuna” event—take place here in January, May, and October, drawing crowds of over 3,000. On non-event days, the arena also hosts a museum featuring bullfighting artifacts, rankings, and island culture; admission is ¥200 .
