Senpiro Falls

Overview

Senpiro Falls is one of Yakushima’s most iconic waterfalls, featuring an impressive 60 m drop cascading into a dramatic V‑shaped granite gorge carved by the Tainoko River . Its name—Senpiro (千尋)—refers to the scale of the giant rock face beside it, roughly the width of 1,000 arm‑spans.

Located about 300 m above sea level, the waterfall is easily accessible by car or on foot, with a short 100 m paths leading from the parking area to a nicely maintained observatory . The lush, misty forest atmosphere makes it a favorite photo stop—especially after heavy rainfall when water flow intensifies.
