Yunohira Observation Deck is the highest publicly accessible point (373 m elevation) on Sakurajima, located at the 4th station of the North Peak. From here, visitors enjoy a stunning 360° panoramic view of the island’s rugged volcanic landscape, the active crater’s plumes, historic lava fields from the 1914 eruption, Kinko Bay, and even the distant Kirishima Mountains and Mt. Kaimon on clear days.
The deck features a sakura-shaped roof, with a first-floor café counter and second-floor volcanic exhibit. A fun feature: seven heart-shaped stones are hidden in the surrounding rock walls—find them all for a touch of good luck! At dusk, the lights of Kagoshima City sparkle across the bay, offering a truly magical view.
Access is easy via the Sakurajima Island View bus (about 40 minutes from Sakurajima Port) or a 15-minute drive. Free parking is available.
