Yakusugi Land is a designated central forest park on Yakushima, covering about 270 ha at 1,000 – 1,200 m elevation. It features ancient centuries‑old Yakusugi cedar trees and five hiking trails ranging from easy 30‑minute loops to challenging 150‑minute routes .
The forest is enchanting—moss‑lamped trunks, gentle streams, and huge cedars like Buddha‑sugi and Jamon‑sugi. It’s suitable for all hikers with well‑maintained boardwalks and mountain paths. The 150‑minute trail leads deeper into the wild, and includes scenic features like the Tachudake path to the Tenmon forest.
