Perched on hardened lava from the 1914 eruption, Karasujima Observatory was once a small island named Karasujima. Now connected to Sakurajima, it provides one of the closest vantage points to the crater of the active volcano’s southern peak. From the viewing deck, you’ll enjoy sweeping panoramas of Sakurajima, the vast lava plain, and the serene waters of Kinko Bay.
